Summary of Services:

Aquatic Research and Monitoring provides support services for marine research, marine construction and marine debris removal in the San Juan Islands.  Our experienced crew and 34’ landing craft creates the perfect platform for on water research, marine mammal monitoring, private water taxi and hauling small construction supplies to the San Juan Islands.  Aquatic Research and Monitoring is here to help you get your project done safely, on time and on budget.

What Makes us Different:

The owners of Aquatic Research and Monitoring are deeply rooted in the Salish Sea.    Our families were some of the early settlers in Whatcom, Skagit and San Juan Counties and have been in the San Juan Islands for over 100 years.  Every generation has made a living on the water and has been on the ground floor of many types of marine industries in the San Juan Islands.  We have generations of experience in commercial fishing, aquaculture, passenger vessels, research vessels, environmental studies and the San Juan Islands.  Aquatic Research and Monitoring is a woman owned, family operated marine support service.

Qualifications / Experience:

  • Over 70 years combined experience
  • USCG Licensed Captains – 100 tons to 1600 tons
  • Dynamic Positioning Certified
  • Captains’ backgrounds include commercial fishing, hydrogrography, NOAA, Scripps, whale watching & wildlife tours, oil spill clean-up vessels, oil supply vessels, Government contracts, pier construction and shellfish farming.
  • Deckhands’ previous experience includes commercial fishing, passenger vessels, whale & wildlife tours and emergency response vessels.
  • Deckhands participate in ongoing maritime and environmental studies
  • Certified Marine Naturalists on Staff
  • 10+ years marine mammal monitoring
  • Marine Mammal Monitors backgrounds include research vessels, wildlife tour vessels and whale watch vessels.
